The NEPSE’s decline continued on Tuesday, September 24, as the index dropped 58.93 points, or 2.33 percent, to close at 2,470.39 points on the third trading day of the week.
This marks the 11th time in the last 13 trading days when the index closed in red.
Though the turnover amount slightly increased to Rs 5.69 billion from Rs 5.66 billion in the previous session, many investors argue the market performance will not be that encouraging anytime soon, with Dashain beginning October 3.
People generally start saving for the festival season this time of the year, which causes reduction in investment.
More than 15 million shares, involving 309 scrips, were exchanged through 77,264 transactions on Tuesday.
The Sensitive, float and Sensitive Float indices decreased by 2.09, 2.26 and 2.19 percent, respectively.
Swarojgar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (SLBBL) saw its share prices rise by 8.81 percent, the highest for the day. It was followed by Upper Syange Hydropower Limited (USHL) which saw a 7.83 percent increase.
On the other hand, Himalayan Hydropower Limited (HHL) became the biggest loser of the day, hitting the negative circuit limit.
In terms of turnover, NLG Insurance Company Ltd. (NLG) topped the list, followed by Sanima Reliance Life Insurance Limited (SRLI).
Sector-wise, the Finance Index declined the most at 4.60 percent, while the Mutual Fund Index saw a 0.44 percent drop.
