After enjoying a double-digit rise on Wednesday, NEPSE's growth proved short-lived as the index fell by 32.81 points (1.30%) on Thursday, closing at 2,486.76 points.
Despite the decline in the index, there was a slight increase in market turnover, rising to Rs 4.84 billion from Rs 4.81 billion on Wednesday.
During Thursday’s trading session, over 12 million shares were exchanged across 322 scrips through 65,258 transactions.
The Sensitive, Float and Sensitive Float indices decreased by 1.17, 1.34 and 1.31 percent, respectively.
Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) saw its share prices rise by 9.85%, the highest for the day. It was followed by Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited (BNL) which saw a 5.06 percent increase.
On the other hand, Green Ventures Limited (GVL) became the biggest loser of the day, hitting the negative circuit limit.
In terms of turnover, Api Power Company Ltd. (API) topped the list, followed by NLG Insurance Company Ltd. (NLG).
Sector-wise, the Hotels and Tourism Index reported a decline of 2.34%, while the Trading Index registered the highest incline at 1.01%.
